3D Paper Flower Pen

3D Paper Flower Pen by Helen Gullett #diy #papercraft #silhouetteamerica #silhouettecameo #loriwhitlock #giftidea

Lori Whitlock is still have a link up party at her blog until April 23rd. You can win $15 gift card to her store! This time the theme of the link up is FLOWER. You need to use Lori’s cutting files to create projects using any kind of flowers.

This is my second project. I made a 3D paper flower pen. This is very easy to make.

You will need:

  • Die cut machine (I use my awesome, one and only Silhouette Cameo! :D)
  • Ballpoint/pen (any brand you like)
  • Ribbon (for this one I used burlap adhesive ribbon I got from Pick Your Plum couple months ago! LOVE IT!)
  • Glue Gun or any strong craft glue, dries clear is the best choice. I used Tombow Mono Liquid Glue)
  • Cardstocks
  • Brads

First, I wrapped the pen with burlap ribbon and secure the end close to the tip with liquide glue. When I wrapped it all the way up to the other end, I made it a bit longer about an inch passed the end. Then I cut 3 sections just like in the picture.

To make the flower, you can follow the tutorial on my blog post here when I made paper flower magnets for a friend. This one I have left from that project :)

To glue the flower on the pen, spread wide the cut ribbon. I added a little dab of glue on them. Then gently add the flower and press from both side of flower and ribbon to secure them together. Do not press agains the table, it will flat the flower.

Let it sit until the glue dries and it is ready to be used.

These are the pictures how I made the flower pen:

It sits beautifully in my flower pen holder and not only me love using it, my daughter always borrow to write when she practices her writing. So I just have to make one more for her so we won’t fight over it. LOL! :D

This flower pen will make a cute Mother’s Day gift for my church friends, what do you think? :)

Thanks for visiting today, hope you like it! If you have any questions, feel free to leave your question at the comment box, I will reply it as soon as I see it :)

This project I also link up at Inspire Me Monday Week #119.

3D Poinsettia Christmas Card

3D Poinsettia - Christmas Card #diy #handmadecard #silhouetteamerica #silhouettecameo #papercraft #loriwhithlock #christmascardchallenge
Couple of days ago, Lori Whitlock has a link up party with flower themed projects and I have been going through my Silhouette library to find what I want to make for this fun link up party until April 23. Then yesterday, I saw Christmas Card Challenges new challenge this week is color challenge: red, kraft and white. I have been wanting to make Lori’s 3D Poinsettia flower for my Christmas card projects. So… I am the point of… Ah-ha! moment when I was imagining how my card would turn out when I combine this 2 challenge :)

So here it is:

3D Poinsettia - Christmas Card #diy #handmadecard #silhouetteamerica #silhouettecameo #papercraft #loriwhithlock #christmascardchallenge

I stamped the snow flakes dots from Close To My Heart Frosted Cardmaking Worshop (D1562) stamp set with VersaMark watermark stamp pad all over the kraft cardstock and added some Zing! White Opaque embossing powder, then I heated it using craft heater. Then I stamped the sentiment comes from the same stamp set (D1562) using CTMH Black Mini Pigment Pad (Z2503), then dryer it with craft heater. I love how the white dots show through like polka dots sentiment :) Then I added the stamped kraft cardstock on a white card base using Tombow adhesive.

Then I cut 12″ X 12″ Cranberry Cardstock (made 4 sets of flowers) and I used Tombow mono liquid glue to put the flower together. For the center, I added a yellow brad. Then I curled gently the petals using the Silhouette hook handle. Finally, I added on the card using glue dots.

All done.

Thanks for  visiting today :D

Seize the Birthday: Buttons or Rhinestones

Birthday is my one of my favorite life events. Living on the other side of the globe, away from my family is hard when it comes to celebrating their birthdays. We always no matter what, will get together and celebrate birthday, my mom will make a cake, or when it is her birthday, we got her a cake :) nothing fancy, but be together on birthday is how we celebrate it. I have missed a lot of birthdays, but I am thankful that God is so good and keeping them in his care.

Today, I would love to share with you a birthday card I made for Seize the Birthday Challenge, which the topping is using buttons or rhinestones. I picked buttons as my topping:

Seize the Birthday: Buttons & Flag Banner. | Creating Joyfully with Helen Gullett | #diy #card #handmadecards #seizethebirthday

It is a simple and quick card. I found a pack of flag banner post-it at Target for only $1. Once I saw it and thought hmmm… surely I can use it for making cards and scrapbooking :) I fold the flags in half around the twine and glued it. And then insert each button on each side. First I glued one button on the left using glue dots, and kinda arrange the flags and added a dot of liquid glue at the back of each flag, and did the same thing with the right button.

I stamped the Happy Birthday sentiment from Joyful Birthday stamp set using Black Exclusive Ink Stamp Pad and done. Simple, quick and cute :)
