I made these 3D Tulip pens for teachers:

I made these flower pens using this tutorial, my first paper flower pen I made last month. To attach the tulip on the pen, I used glue gun this time. Then I put them all in a food can I wrapped with scrapbook paper.

Just Because…

Watercolor is becoming a trend among card makers. I found some video tutorials on YouTube and also inspirations from Pinterest 🙂 This technique bring back my memories to days I was playing with watercolor pencils and paints when I was at school. I was not a good one though *wink* 😀

But a lot of card makers inspire me a lot to try again this “messy yet beautiful” technique. Today I would love to share with you 2 cards I made using watercolor to create the background cards:

Just Because... a card by Heleng G. http://wp.me/p1wKGj-1kB

First card, I used watercolor pencils from Close To My Heart, basic colors (retired). I scribble the pencil all over the watercolor paper that I cut in 4″x5.25″. I stared from lighter color to bolder layer to crate the gradient shade just using 1 color. Then I wet colored paper with wet brush and heated it using my craft heater. The paper will kindda bendy a little bit but a trick I learned, you can just heat from the other side until the paper kindda straight again.

Then I pick and cut a paper from one of Amy Tangerine – Sketchbook Paper Pad. And using Tombow Adhesive, I glued it on the watercolor background paper, angled it a little bit. Then I stamped the sentiment from CAS-ual Fridays Stamps, Loving Thoughts set with Black Exclusive Inks Mini Pigment Pad and added Glitter Embossing powder I found at AC Moore store couple weeks ago. The sentiment is pop and glittery!

And I finished the card with three Flamingo dots and white stitching dots using White Uniball gel pen.

This is the second card I made using the same stamp set from CAS-ual Fridays Stamps, Loving Thoughts:

Mother's Day Card 2... a card by Heleng G. http://wp.me/p1wKGj-1kB

On a piece of watercolor paper, I used watercolor pencils to create gradient color background, wet it with some water and then I heated it using craft heater. Then I stamped the flowers and sentiment from CAS-ual Fridays Stamps, Loving Thoughts, with CTMH Black Exclusive Inks Mini Pigment Pad, and added glitter embossing powder. I love the embossed glitter effect!

Thanks for stopping by today! Have a fun crafty day!

Paper Issues: Happy Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day is one of my favorite day 🙂 though I cannot celebrate it with my mom (she lives on the other side of the globe…MISS HER A LOT!) but I am thankful that I can celebrate with a lot of moms God has put in my life while we are living here.

And today I would love to share with you one of the cards I made:

Mother's Day Card by Helen G. | http://wp.me/p1wKGj-1jS | Paper Issue Challenge #card #mothersday #diy #handmade #closetomyheart #ctmh #watercolor

I found Glitter Embossing Powder at a craft store last week and I was so excited to try it and LOVE to see the result of on this card 🙂

First, on a 3″ x 3″ White Daisy Cardstock I stamped the cluster of flowers from A Mother’s Love stamp set (B1447, Hostess Reward) with VersaMark stamp pad and added the glitter embossing powder until it covered the whole flowers. Then I used the craft heater to heat it. The glitter embossed flower pop-up clear on the White Daisy Cardstock.

Then I used CTMH Watercolor Pencils (3505), just color the whole cardstock the embossed flower with the basic colors. And I used the CTMH Watercolor Brush (1771) to wet the watercolor pencils. Very easy to create a watercolor background and less messy! 😀

The embossed flowers resist the watercolor pencils with water. Cool ah?! 🙂

I cut the Chocolate cardstock into 3.25″ x 3.25″ to be the mat where I glued the watercolor cardstock on top of the chocolate mate using Tombow Adhesive. Then I added them on the White card.

Next, I stamped the Happy Mother’s Day circle tag from Holiday Tags stamp set (D1560, coordinate with the Cricut® Artiste collection, Z1790) using Hollyhock Exclusive Inks Stamp Pad (Z2128) on a White Daisy Cardstock. And added on the card with 3-D Foam Tape.

I found 2 shades of purple cardstock in my scrap drawer and punch them with Martha Stewar hydrangea flower punch and added them on the card using 3-D Foam Tape and finished them with Sparkles Clear Assortment.

Last step is I added the Durables Triangle Studs on the right upper card. And done!

I hope you like the card! Have a fabulous Mother’s Day weekend with your beloved ones!

This is the layout I created for this challenge. When I found out about the theme this week, I went through my Silhouette Studio library and found this Love Grows Stronger tree cutting file from Silhouette. I just love the title of it. Perfect for our first time dating picture… because since then our love grows stronger every day…
