Cool Tuesday: Stretching Your Embossing Folder and Stamp

We had a wonderful long Memorial Day. My husband cook out tasty food for 3 days! He is the best cook ever 😀 We also went driving on our Jeep at State Park close to us and love the wonderful days we had.  Just love warmer days!!

Couple weeks ago, my husband got me an embossing machine (AWESOME husband!) and I have been playing a lot with it. I gathered all the courage I had to stretch the use of embossing folders I had with stamping. So… here’s what I did: stamped and embossed 3D paper flower.

I used them on 2 shaker cards I made for my friends:

I used this simple shaker card tutorial to make this cards. The sentiments I used are from The Happy Couple stamp set and Joyful Birthday stamp set. I stamped them with Black Pigment Ink Pad. First card, I stamped the anniversary sentiment on a piece of velum, added some glitter embossing powder, and heated it with my craft heater. The second card, I stamped the birthday sentiment on the base card, centered the position that would show in the frame. I got the metallic multicolor sequins and beads at Walmart only 🙂

I love those flowers on the cards, and I thought they would make my scrapbook layouts pretty, too… so I made more of them with different colors and pattern. And I took some pictures how to make them:

  1. First stamp the petals from Hello Bloom stamp set on a piece of White Daisy Cardstock. I used Sorbet, Juniper and Pear Exclusive Inks Stamp Pads.
  2. Run it through embossing machine. For these flowers, I used Chevron Embossing Folder and WRMK Evolution Advance machine.
  3. Then cut them and curl each petal gently using Quilling tool.
  4. Use Liquid Glass to put them together. You only need a small dot in the middle of each petal.
  5. Made a little bow with Baker’s Twine Neutral Metallic, Cashmere.
  6. Add it in the middle of the flower using Liquid Glass.
  7. Then add button (or gems) to finis the flower.

Creatively-Redeeming-Team_BlogHop_Logo

We are Creatively Redeeming Treasures CTMH Team would love to celebrate this special week with all the graduates! We have created graduation themed projects. You should come from Elizabeth’s blog. I hope you are inspired by her, she is very talented!

Today I made this second graduation card for a friend (to see my first card you can visit here):

It's A Celebration, A Graduation Card by Helen G. | http://wp.me/p1wKGj-1lm #handmadecards #closetomyheart #stamping #embossing #watercolor

I have been playing with my new embossing machine, Evolution Advanced. All Close To My Heart Embossing Folders fit perfectly on this machine.

I cut Black Cardstock (1386) to make 4.25″x5.5″ base card. Then I cut a piece of 4″x5.25″ of White Daisy Cardstock (1385) to emboss it using Quatrefoil Embossing Folder (Z1926).

After embossing the White Cardstock, I colored the quatrefoils with CTMH Watercolor Pencils, Basic colors (retired), and then I wet it lightly & quickly using CTMH brush (retired). Then I heated it to dry using CTMH craft heater (retired).

When the watercolor background dried completely, I stamped the banner from Banner Wishes (B1438) stamp set using Black Exclusive Inks Mini Pigment Pad and heat embossed it with glitter embossing powder. Then I stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set with Lagoon Exclusive Inks Mini Pigment Pad, heat embossed it with glitter embossing powder. After all dried up well with craft heater, I added the embossed & stamped White Daisy Cardstock on the card based using a lot of Tombow Adhesive so that the cardstock would lay flat on the card.

I finished my card with a banner and arrow border I cut out of Skylark Paper Packet (Z7177B) that I glued them using Glue Dots and then I added couple staples on them.

Just Because…

Watercolor is becoming a trend among card makers. I found some video tutorials on YouTube and also inspirations from Pinterest 🙂 This technique bring back my memories to days I was playing with watercolor pencils and paints when I was at school. I was not a good one though *wink* 😀

But a lot of card makers inspire me a lot to try again this “messy yet beautiful” technique. Today I would love to share with you 2 cards I made using watercolor to create the background cards:

Just Because... a card by Heleng G. http://wp.me/p1wKGj-1kB

First card, I used watercolor pencils from Close To My Heart, basic colors (retired). I scribble the pencil all over the watercolor paper that I cut in 4″x5.25″. I stared from lighter color to bolder layer to crate the gradient shade just using 1 color. Then I wet colored paper with wet brush and heated it using my craft heater. The paper will kindda bendy a little bit but a trick I learned, you can just heat from the other side until the paper kindda straight again.

Then I pick and cut a paper from one of Amy Tangerine – Sketchbook Paper Pad. And using Tombow Adhesive, I glued it on the watercolor background paper, angled it a little bit. Then I stamped the sentiment from CAS-ual Fridays Stamps, Loving Thoughts set with Black Exclusive Inks Mini Pigment Pad and added Glitter Embossing powder I found at AC Moore store couple weeks ago. The sentiment is pop and glittery!

And I finished the card with three Flamingo dots and white stitching dots using White Uniball gel pen.

This card I link up at CAS-ual Fridays Challenge, CFC131: Three Thirds

This is the second card I made using the same stamp set from CAS-ual Fridays Stamps, Loving Thoughts:

Mother's Day Card 2... a card by Heleng G. http://wp.me/p1wKGj-1kB

On a piece of watercolor paper, I used watercolor pencils to create gradient color background, wet it with some water and then I heated it using craft heater. Then I stamped the flowers and sentiment from CAS-ual Fridays Stamps, Loving Thoughts, with CTMH Black Exclusive Inks Mini Pigment Pad, and added glitter embossing powder. I love the embossed glitter effect!

Thanks for stopping by today! Have a fun crafty day!

This is one of the cards I made today… I like how it turned out 🙂

I used second-generation stamping technique for the falling snow background and the trees. For the sentiment, I stamped it with white ink, added some clear embossing powder on it and then heated it up with my craft heater.

And for the inspiration I got from The Paper Players Challenge #174

and the sketch is from FTL268
