Congratulations Graduate!

This month is special for a High School Graduate I know from our church! What an achievement in his life and now he is moving forward to Collage. To celebrate this graduation week, I created couple cards and this is one of them:

Congratulations Graduate! | #handmadecard #diy #cardmaking #closetomyheart #ctmh

I cut Black Cardstock (1386) to make 4.25″x5.5″ base card. Then I cut a piece of 4″x5.25″ of White Cardstock (1385) to emboss it using Quatrefoil Embossing Folder (Z1926) with my new WRMK Evolution Advanced embossing machine (also for diecutting and letterpressing!), a surprise gift from my amazing husband! CTMH has 5 kind of embossing folders: Dot, Chevron, Quatrefoil, Damask and Stripe. Check them out here. I added the embossed cardstock on the card base using Tombow Adhesive (1514).

For make the hat, I cut 2″x2″ Black Glitter Paper (Z1829) and I punched hole using WRMK Crop-A-Dile. I made the tassel following this tutorial, easy and simple. Then I added the tassel on the hat and fasten it with yellow brad I got from Michaels a while back. I used Mini Glue Dots (Z341) to hold the tassel at the back and front hat.

Next, I cut the stripe banner shape from one of the pattern papers from Skylark Paper Packet (Z7177B) and I cut arrow out of the border. I added the Lagoon stripe banner on the card using Glue Dots (1772) to give a little bit dimension. I cut a piece of 3/4″ x 2.5″ from the quatrefoil pattern paper and stamped it with the sentiment from Banner Wishes (B1438) using Black Exclusive Inks Mini Pigment Pad (Z2503). While the ink still wet, I added some glitter embossing powder I got from AC Moore and then I heated it up with my craft heater (retired). Check out the pop-up and glittered sentiment! I have been having fun playing with pigment inks and glitter embossing powder 🙂 Then I added this stamped banner on top of the Lagoon stripe banner using Glue Dots (1772). The arrow small border I added using 3D Foam Tape (Z1151) to give more dimension looking.

Last step I added the hat using 3D Foam Tape (Z1151) on top of the banners, overlapping them a bit and finished the card with some Aqua Dots (Z1853).

Some Mother’s Day Cards

I hope you all had fabulous Mother’s Day last week! I had a very special Mother’s Day this year. An Indonesian church in Columbus, OH, invited us and asked me to share God’s word with them on Saturday and Sunday of Mother’s Day. I am blessed beyond measure! We all felt His presence with us, blessing us with His love, grace, promises and power.

Moms, God is love and He loves us unconditionally! By His grace and love, He enables me to be the mom to my daughters and wife to my husband. I am thankful every single day I can be there for them, serve them and love them. They are the one who make me feel special every day!

Mother's Day 2014 (c) Creating Joyfully, Helen G.

Couple weeks ago I made some cards to send out to some family and friends. Here are some of the cards I made using Close To My Heart products I have:

3D Paper Flower Pen

3D Paper Flower Pen by Helen Gullett | | #diy #papercraft #silhouetteamerica #silhouettecameo #loriwhitlock #giftidea

Lori Whitlock is still have a link up party at her blog until April 23rd. You can win $15 gift card to her store! This time the theme of the link up is FLOWER. You need to use Lori’s cutting files to create projects using any kind of flowers.

This is my second project. I made a 3D paper flower pen. This is very easy to make.

You will need:

  • Die cut machine (I use my awesome, one and only Silhouette Cameo! :D)
  • Ballpoint/pen (any brand you like)
  • Ribbon (for this one I used burlap adhesive ribbon I got from Pick Your Plum couple months ago! LOVE IT!)
  • Glue Gun or any strong craft glue, dries clear is the best choice. I used Tombow Mono Liquid Glue)
  • Cardstocks
  • Brads

First, I wrapped the pen with burlap ribbon and secure the end close to the tip with liquide glue. When I wrapped it all the way up to the other end, I made it a bit longer about an inch passed the end. Then I cut 3 sections just like in the picture.

To make the flower, you can follow the tutorial on my blog post here when I made paper flower magnets for a friend. This one I have left from that project 🙂

To glue the flower on the pen, spread wide the cut ribbon. I added a little dab of glue on them. Then gently add the flower and press from both side of flower and ribbon to secure them together. Do not press agains the table, it will flat the flower.

Let it sit until the glue dries and it is ready to be used.

These are the pictures how I made the flower pen:

It sits beautifully in my flower pen holder and not only me love using it, my daughter always borrow to write when she practices her writing. So I just have to make one more for her so we won’t fight over it. LOL! 😀

This flower pen will make a perfect gift Mother’s Day gift and for teachers, too. What do you think? I am going to make a lot more of this pen for my church’s friends 🙂

Happy Birthday – Masculine Card

This is the second post today, you can check the first card here. I made it simple and masculine. I pick this teal/blue pattern paper from a 6×6 pad of assortment pattern paper I have in my stash. The flowers I got from Paradise Floret Paper Shapes (retired – here the similar pack) and I stamped the sentiment from a stamp set, Banner Wishes, using Lagoon Exclusive Inks® Stamp Pad. I added one of the Opaques Pearl Adhesive Gems in the middle of the flower. To add some dimension on the flower and banner, I used 3-D Foam Tape.

This is the sketch I used for the card from CAS(E) this Sketch! Challenge #58:

Thank you so much for visiting again today. Hope you’ll like this simple card 🙂

It’s A Celebration

Yesterday I came back from a mini getaway with my husband that he planned it to be on my Birthday weekend since 2 months ago. I was so thankful that we could go for a couple days, to enjoy the time together. It was wonderful. I will post some pictures when I am done sorting them 🙂

This morning, I went through emails and found some challenges are still going on, one of them is 1o Minute Craft Dash Challenge #32 – Anything Goes. It’s been a while I haven’t join them. This time I would love to try. I made this card in 9 minute and 15 minutes. I made it this time 😀
I had a white cardstock cut into 5.5×8.5 and scored in the middle, folded to be the based card. Then I taped the Party Washi tape pack of 3 from Close To My Heart on the card. Started from the top to about 3/4 card. Left the 1/4 of the bottom for stamping the sentiment and the border.

On a piece of white cardstock, I stamped the Banner Wishes stamp and the sentiment. Then fussy handcut it. I used 3D foam tape to add some dimension to the banner. Then finished it with some sequins.

This card is not too bulky to send and you can use regular mail stamp. Easy and quick 🙂
